National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week
The first week in November is Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. This year, it falls on November 1-7, 2015. During this week, it is a perfect time to recognize the shelters in our community. A few of these shelters were even affected by the recent flooding we had during October, so they would really appreciate any help you can give them as they continue to recover 🙂
Here is a list of a few of the more well-known shelters and rescues around the Columbia area:
Many of your local vets also take in strays or found animals.
Right now, shelters can always use supplies like towels, newspapers, food for the animals, etc. Those that were affected by the flooding (like SQ Rescue, for example), have larger needs so you may need to contact them directly to see how you can help. It’s a great way to show them some love during Animal Shelter Appreciation Week!
