Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday!
Black Friday and Small Business Saturday are terms we are becoming all too familiar with in our lexicon now-a-days. We’ve heard Black Friday for years, but now Small Business Saturday is becoming more common, too – and I for one am happy about it. Maybe it’s just because I’m a small business owner myself 😉 If you haven’t heard of it (I don’t know if it is promoted around the rest of the country as much as it is in the South), Small Business Saturday is a way to help promote commerce with smaller, local businesses in your town. This country really is run on these small businesses, they bring in a lot of economy for their cities, and I am glad to be a part of it!

But back to Small Business Saturday…there are tons of small locally owned pet-related businesses around the Columbia metroplex – all you have to do is look! Even though there are the chain-store pet stores, they are all locally owned and managed.
Here are a few locally owned pet supply stores in Columbia:

- Animal Supply House (Irmo, Lexington)
- Pet Supermarket (Lexington)
- Mill Creek Pet Supply (Downtown, Northeast)

- Pet’s: The Whole 9 Yards (Irmo)

One other thought – don’t forget some small businesses are like mine, where there isn’t a store front but they are locally owned and operated. A lot of pet sitting and dog walking businesses are like this. And they might have some Black Friday Deals going like we do!
