Dog Bite Prevention Week
There are many reasons dogs can bite – the most common is that they are aggressive. While this is a very valid reason, aggression can be trained and worked on; and it might not even be the dog’s fault if a previous owner caused them to be that way. Other reasons they can bite: they are provoked, backed into a corner, are scared or anxious and that is their only defense, they are redirecting, or they are guarding something. All of these can be trained and worked with as well. But, be smart and have some common sense – if you don’t know a dog, always ask the owner if you can approach and pet their dog.
